A subcontractor injured Monday while working on a project at Druid Park Lake has died, Baltimore City Department of Public Works officials said.

"I regret to report that the worker injured during an incident at DPW’s Druid Park Lake Underground Tank Project has passed away," Matthew W. Garback, acting director of the Department of Public Works, said in a statement. "We are deeply saddened by this worker’s passing, and offer our sincerest condolences to his family and co-workers and the entire team working on the Druid Park Lake Underground Tank Project."

City police said a worker had just exited his truck around 7 a.m. and apparently forgot to put the vehicle in park. Police said the man got pinned between his truck and another piece of construction apparatus.

The worker was taken to Shock Trauma after the incident.

Garback did not identify the worker. However, he said all involved parties "are fully cooperating with ongoing safety investigations."
